Cumberland Valley Rail Trail: Outdoor enthusiasts can hike, bike, walk, or horseback ride on the 11-mile trail that follows the abandoned Cumberland Valley railroad corridor from Shippensburg to Newville. Interpretative way-point signs on the agricultural and Civil War heritage are located along the trail.

Shippensburg Historical Society: A partner of the Cumberland Valley Railroad Museum and founded in 1945, the Shippensburg Historical Society is a private, non-profit membership organization dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing the rich history of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania and the surrounding area. Shippensburg University: Founded in 1871, Shippensburg University has provided educational and cultural opportunities to its students and the community for nearly 150 years.
